Welcome to my kitchen, the heart of Cahoon Farm, located in the rural Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, and to Green Mountain Homestead Arts.
At its core, homesteading is a state of mind. It’s about doing more of what you love and less of what you don’t. It’s about the rewards of self-sufficiency and agency, of paring away waste and making the most of what’s at hand, and seeking out the sort of labor that feeds both body and soul. It’s about beauty, simplicity, and gratitude.
Green Mountain Homestead Arts is meant to share and celebrate several loves: the pleasure found in creatiion, in simple arts and crafts; in the satisfaction of seeing things grow; and the fairly unrivaled joy of working in the kitchen, where I cook and also write. I hope you’ll find here some inspiration to do more of what you love, some recipes you’d like to try, and the freedom to create your own. I wish you well on your homesteading journey, be it ever so small-scale as mine or a quest to truly break free from the grid and the nine-to-five grind. Thank you so much for stopping by.
